Fall is coming! I have put away the straw and jumped in with felt. Making hats out of felt is much harder on my hands. I keep my arnica gel with me in the studio to help relief sore fingers. Stop in to CAGS on Middle St. downtown New Bern to see what’s new.

Last month, I joined the US Milliner's Guild and entered their summer challenge requiring hats to be 70% paper. Below is my entry piece. It is made from maps of National Forests.

Each map has been a silent witness to the battles fought against wildfires. By repurposing these maps that were used on a fire assignment, I aim to breathe new life into them, transforming tools of navigation into vessels of artistic expression.

A little bit of fun! I dyed the wool used for these at Wayward Fiber Arts quite a while ago. I’m excited to finally be using them.
