Hello Friends!

Spring is four weeks away and I am so excited about the Spring Collection titled, Native Wildflowers. The collection is up early on my website and will launch in Audra Style ( 1910 S. Glenburnie) on March 5th. Which happens to be my birthday, so pop in and see what interests you. Some sales on my bday would be so dreamy!

In support of the collection, I have several small starter pots in my sunroom that I’ve been nurturing with the hopes of growing some echinacea flowers. Native plants are so important for sustainability and our wildlife. Fingers crossed, no sprouts yet.

The Native Wildflower Collection includes 5 unique styles of wool and a wool and straw combination of hats. In addition to the hats, I am working on a growing collection of original artworks of different types of coastal native wildflowers. This collection will have one original linocut artwork per flower and prints of the artworks on greeting cards. I have designed and hand sewn one spring jacket to go with the collection as well as several floral headbands that will be great for spring and Easter!

Let’s not forget about my dried flower embellishments as well. I have some colorful ones for Spring. These can be pinned to a hat you have or worn as a lasting boutonniere.

The Art of Asking

If I know I’m going to be spending 6-8 hours in the studio a day, I usually have an audio book to listen to while I make hats. The last one I read was, The Art of Asking, by Amanda Palmer. Now Amanda is not for everyone, but I did enjoy this book. She talks about having the courage and vulnerability to ask for the things we need and, that being an artist or creator is valid and asking for help to do what you love is ok. Asking for something from someone else is hard for me and I realized that sometimes I struggle with allowing myself to even acknowledge the ask myself. Sounds like a great recipe for someone hoping to sell handcrafted items, right? So, that leads me to this. I’m ready to find out how I can better serve my clients and the best way to “speak your language” when I have an ask.
